Why did I listen to a webinar aimed at therapists treating clients with #mentalhealth challenges?
#Curiosity #Confidence, and because I'm #writing about #Mental Health Awareness.
I'm Not a therapist. I'm someone who suffers from #FND, #PTSD, #OCD and #Anxiety. The road ahead is a complex journey, My journey. As an educator, professional, #MentalHealthAdvocate writing a #memoir about #MH I wanted to know what tips they'd share with counsellors.
Jocelyn's TAKE-AWAYS:
from webinar, hosted by @ElliotConnie & @AlesyaCourtnage, (*online webinar, June 19th, 2021)
1. ***First thing in the morning: "Remember who you are!" Your difficult childhood has prepared you with the strength and resilience to manage right now. This gives you hope.
***Hope is always present***
2. Ask yourself: "What would you notice about yourself if you remembered each morning, Who you are?" Every now and then we get tested, so we'll be fully prepared for the here & now. Choose hope!
Believe in yourself,
Recognize that hope is not just a feeling, it is a state of being.
Honor the courage it takes to be hopeful.
Ask yourself, when you reach out for help, "What is it that I want to achieve?"
Choose wisely a therapist or counsellor, who trusts your ability to figure things out... if you don't find the right practitioner right away... look further.
